New Chevrolet Impala: A Car for Everyone

Chevrolet calls the new Impala "a car for everyone." It is a full-size sedan with a roomy cabin, a sufficient cargo space, and serene driving. The new model comes with a new LT base trim. Chevy also discontinued the LS trim and the four-cylinder engine. Some of the car's strengths include a plush ride and straightforward infotainment materials. The new Chevy Impala has sidelined the earlier four-cylinder engine for a 3.6L V6 that offers 305 horses with 264 pound-feet of torque. Chevy pairs this with a six-speed automatic transmission as a standard. The V6 is a muscular engine to offer a peppy performance on the highway or up the hill in Ephrata and Elizabethtown.

EPA estimated the car to offer 19 mpg for city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. The front-wheel-drive Impala offers comfort and agility with a plush and refined ride. You get a five-year/60,000-mile warranty on the powertrain and a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty on the new car.

The Chevy Impala is a safe car, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, NHTSA. It has an overall rating of 5 stars out of a possible 5. It also has a 5-star rating for side crash. Side barrier, frontal barrier, and front and rear seat tests. Some of the safety features the car offers include:

  • Lane Change Assist - This is the same feature offered as blind-spot warning. It alerts you when you try moving into another line when another car is present.
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert - It monitors cars in your path when you drive the car in reverse.
  • Forward Collision Alert - This feature alerts you of potential collisions with vehicles that stop or slow down abruptly in front of your car.

An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display is standard for the Impala. It also offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi Hotspot, 3 USB ports, a six-speaker stereo system, Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, Navigation, and wireless smartphone charging. Higher trims offer an 11-speaker Bose Premium audio system.

The infotainment system sports a simple construction with buttons and knobs to control the climate and audio.

The Impala seats five people. It has sufficient rear space to beat rival sedans. The rear and front seats are comfortable for luxurious adult seating. However, the seats need better side support to enhance their comfort. The base trim offers cloth and faux leather upholstery that still looks comfortable and posh. The driver's seat adjusts eight-ways for added comfort. Higher trims come with genuine leather upholstery and heated and ventilated front seats for a great balance between heat and coolness. The front passenger seat is also power-adjustable with a heated steering wheel.

Each Impala comes with two sets of child-seat connectors. The middle seat in the rear row has a tether and an anchor for your child's safety. This car sports an excellent fit and finishes with a sleek cabin, but a few hard plastic parts, especially on the center stack, can affect the appeal of the car.

For a full-size sedan, its 18.8 cubic feet cargo space is sufficient. Better yet, the rear seats fold flat to offer you more cargo space.

You can choose the Impala from a range of five exterior colors to match your needs. The car looks bold with its 18-inch wheels (or 19-inch for the Premier Trim). The styling features sophisticated lines that add to the beauty and sleekness of the car. The LED headlights further make the car impressive.
